Finally we're all better and had my birthday dinner!

We went to historic Calhoun Corners a gorgeous building built in 1895, which was the General Store, now it is an amazing eatery and we enjoyed being able to keep food down for the first day since Thanksgiving. It was a very nice evening and now I'm officially 54!

Well yesterday was my birthday.

But I'm afraid we had to cancel my dinner party out. Unfortunately our entire family got sick from something at our Thanksgiving Dinner. Everone seemed fine Friday, however by that evening and the next morning we were all dropping like flies. Saturday and Sunday were the lost weekend, sleeping, moaning and trying to sip fluids, yeesterday was better but still not up to a feast out. Today Ken's at work and I am verging on human, by a thin margin. This may be the first Thanksgiving I ever lost weight, so I guess there is a silver lining!

Thank you all, to good friends and family for lovely gifts, cards and flowers, I love you all and they gave me reason to smile even while feeling puny.

Hugs and Blessings.

More Thanksgiving pics then fit in the post below...

Thanksgiving with Ken's Family

We were 15 for dinner at Ken's father's log home. Ken's two sisters and their families made it, but his two brothers unfortunately couldn't. But it was a lovely dinner and visit. The day was perfect, Nikki and Shaun, Ken's children both made it, the weather was perfect, I just wish Damon and Chase had been there, I miss them. Damon worked, but had a Stationhouse Thanksgiving with fellow workers and Chase had several people to visit and eat with on his one day off before the retail season goes crazy on Friday, he won't have much time off until after Christmas now. Damon and Vicki will also do a Thanksgiving on Saturday at home, and Chase will be there too. So they will be eating well all weekend.
Above are some random informal, very informal photos of Turkey Day. I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving too. Blessings.

Duke energy has lowered Keowee by 20 feet!

The Lake has dropped so much that our water has receded and our 1.25 acre lot is now 2 acres! But the fall colors are still gorgeous. It is amazing that the power company can so drastically change the depth to work on a generator. Our dock is now totally up on land.... But they say it will only be about a month.

My computer hasn't been working, sorry I was away...

I can't get my computer to post pictures at the moment, but I'll catch you up anyway on life in SC. Ken and I are keeping very busy.

The forklift business has been very very busy. Ken is a wonder. I am also looking into a new product we found in Greece to sell. It is unique and gorgeous and no one in the USA is selling it, so I'm researching it further. It was shown earlier in the blog... it is the jade vases shown back in the Greece photos... anyway, I'm still checking it all out. But it just might make a really neat little business for me.

Of course I am still working on my book too, but with everything else going on, it is moving at a snails pace. Basically I have my time divided up in multiple directions and occasionally overwhelm myself, but life is good and I'm enjoying all of it. I am a very blessed and lucky woman, albeit a very busy one. Who knew retirement could be so busy?

Fall is starting to turn into a SC winter, sometimes it is actually in the 30's in the morning, but it always comes back up to great by mid-day. The leaves are peaking and starting to fall. I am enjoying learning golf. It is much more of a challenge then I ever imagined. I play with some really nice women and that makes it lots of fun. So far I am just playing a 9 hole course.

We also joined a newcomers activity group which promises to be lots of fun, 12 couples, who will each take 1 month to choose an activity or a field trip that we all do. They are an interesting group and very diversified, and it lasts for 3 years, so we should all really get to know each other. We had our first get together and it was a ball, now we have a Christmas Party planned for next month.

I've also joined a Writers Group that meets twice a month. So my life is getting very hectic, but also very interesting.

Ken and I went to see the Trans Siberian Christmas show last night, it was fabulous. The light show is unbelievable and the energy and music of the artists amazing. I highly recommend that you see them if they visit your area.

Ken's house still hasn't sold, but we are hoping to start our new house in Dec. or Jan. The architect will give us final plans by Thanksgiving and we hope the neighborhood will approve it shortly after it is submitted, and the septic and foundation people will be ready to go by then. But in custom home building time frames are all variable......

Love to all and I'll try to post some pictures soon. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
